After about a year of hard work and brainstorming, I’m proud to announce that the Batch 1 of Mech-o Café (you can consider this as a demo) is officially here! This is the first big milestone for a project close to my heart. I can’t wait for you to meet the café crew and experience a dating sim like none other. Did you already play a dating sim with buff robots? I don’t think so, but worry not because I got you covered! I’m clearly not a professional, but I did my best to create a fun experience.

How did it start?

I began this journey last year, after finding out about macho cafés. Around that time, I kept seeing drawings of robots with buff humanoid bodies and I simply couldn’t get bored of them! For some reason, my brain instantly made the connection between those robots (that I was already having fun drawing buff for some reason) and macho cafés, which obviously led to the concept of Mech-o Café. This name was actually a placeholder pun for a while, but I ended keeping it since it has its own charm.

At first I treated it as a joke project, but I got so attached to every character (even Corey, I love them) and their stories that I decided to go even further, which is why I spent so long putting all the effort I could into this demo. From designing the staff members to crafting a story where every Mech-o has an importance, it’s been amazing seeing Mech-o Café come to life. I can’t help but feel happy seeing the improvement I made in art, music, writing and coding along the way.

This whole project was also a good moral challenge for me. I felt like if I at least finished the first batch, I’d be able to prove myself that I can do something big without backing down. Looks like I made it to the end!

So what’s in Batch 1?

Here’s what you can expect from this first release:

• Experience the first three days at the café (days 0-1-2).

• Meet all five dateable waiters and get a taste of their personalities.

• Discover the chill atmosphere of Mech-o Café, accompanied with a completely original OST

• View one exclusive illustration for each waiter during their respective routes (it doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, five CGs is a lot for a single artist XD)

• And more!

This is just the beginning, and I’m really excited for what’s to come!

But what’s next?

As you could tell, this is only the beginning! I’ve already got some things done for Batch 2 such as more soundtracks and a continuation to the script. If everything goes according to the plan, it will cover days 3, 4 and 5, with more funny shenanigans between Corey and the Mech-o Café staff. Stay tuned for the next updates! I kinda feel like it's even visible in the game itself, between the funny scenes and the sad moments for each routes.
